will talking to your kids about sex really change anything?

i keep seeing all these commercials on tv trying to convince parents to go & have "the talk" w. their kids, but will it change anything? honestly? my parents & i have a really open relationship, but we've never had that talk. i know everything i need to know, & i'm not having sex. it just seems like kids will do what they want, regardless of what they know, or who they learnt it from. what do you think?

Well, if you don't talk to your kids they might assume it's okay.

If they know what their parents opinions are they might give it a second thought.
